Maritzburg Auctioneers was founded on May 16th 1953 and started operating from the premises at 289 Church Street, Pietermaritzburg, opposite the market square. It was here that Roy Lock began to build Maritzburg Auctioneers from a small second hand furniture dealership and Auctioneer, into one of Pietermaritzburg’s leading and respected businesses. Roy Lock was assisted by his wife Jessie Lock and together with their strong family values, the auctioneering company began to spread its wings.
